Coffee Body Scrub

1.17.2015

The temperature outside here in the UK is continues to drop making for some very cold days. With the weather and central heating wreaking havoc on my skin coupled with a little indulgence over the festive period, my body was in need of some TLC. I decided to whip up one of my favourite go to body scrubs, it contains the simplest of ingredients (all edible not that you should!) and is so easy to make.
The main ingredient coffee provides a host of benefits to the skin and body as it contains antioxidant properties. Coffee helps to boost circulation and in turn tightens and plumps up the skin, the sugar helps to exfoliate off dead skin and the sweet almond oil is a great moisturiser that isn't too oily on the skin and is absorbed fairly quickly. All these ingredients combined with a lovely scent of vanilla essential oil or vanilla extract if preferred produce what is a really lovely all over body scrub that is excellent on the skin as well as providing aromatherapy in the shower / bath that helps uplift the mood making you feel great especially on these long cold January days.

INGREDIENTS

7 Tbsps Coffee grounds
3 Tbsps Organic fairtrade brown sugar (or sugar of choice)
2 Tbsps Sweet almond oil
Vanilla essential oil or vanilla extract

METHOD

Firstly mix the dry ingredients
Add the sweet almond oil and 3 drops of vanilla essential oil / Vanilla extract
Thoroughly mix all the ingredients until the oil has been absorbed evenly.
transfer the mixture into a glass jar
Run a nice shower or bath, grab a scoop and get scrubbing! your body and skin will thank you.
Luxuriate,
